Архимандрит Пётр, born Alexander Afanasyev on November 20, 1938, was a prominent figure in the Russian Orthodox Church. He organized monastic life in three monasteries, notably serving as the abbot of the Zaikonospassky Monastery in Moscow from 2010 to 2016. He was also known as an honored cultural figure in Russia, founding various music ensembles, including the Moscow Instrumental Chapel in 1978 and the men's choir 'Blagozvonnitsa' in 1997 after becoming a clergy member. He passed away on April 11, 2016, in Moscow.
