Nina Alexandrovna Goriunova (1916-1971) was a Soviet scientist and pioneer in the field of chemical studies of complex diamond-like semiconductors. She graduated from Leningrad State University in 1939 and became a professor in 1962. Goriunova proposed that binary compounds InSb and CdTe exhibit semiconductor properties, a hypothesis later confirmed through experimentation. She founded the Laboratory of Physico-Chemical Properties of Semiconductors in 1963, where significant advances in semiconductor crystal growth were achieved. Goriunova received notable awards for her work and passed away in 1971.
