She specialized in microbiology at VMA and worked at the Hamburg Hygiene Institute beginning in 1970. Aleksić has been the head of the National Center for Diagnostics of Intestinal Diseases in Germany since 1978, and throughout her career, she has actively supported humanitarian efforts, particularly during the Yugoslav Wars, providing medical supplies and literature to Serbian institutions.
