Alan Marks (May 14, 1949 – July 12, 1995) was an American pianist and composer who worked in Germany. He grew up in St. Louis and studied at the Juilliard School under Irwin Freundlich, later continuing his studies with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory and Benjamin Kaplan in London. Marks lived and worked in Berlin from 1981 and taught at the Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler' from 1992 until his death. He recorded multiple albums, including works by Franz Liszt and Eric Satie, and posthumously, a live recording of Schubert's piano sonatas.
