Alexander Alexandrovich Polyansky (January 21, 1902 - October 5, 1951) was a senior radio operator on the icebreaker ship Georgy Sedov under Glavsevmorput. He held the title of engineer-captain of the Northern Sea Route, 3rd rank (1949), and was a Hero of the Soviet Union (1940). Polyansky's contributions to Arctic navigation and his service during World War II were recognized with significant honors.
