Igumen Varsonofy, born Boris Khaidurovich Khaibulin on February 20, 1937, in Moscow, was a Russian Orthodox priest and dissident who became a political prisoner. He was one of the founders of the Human Rights Organization 'Christian Committee for the Protection of Believers' in 1976. In the 2000s, he focused mainly on pastoral care, serving as a spiritual mentor to thousands of believers in Russia and abroad. His theological writings largely addressed subjects like chiliasm (millenarianism), eschatology, and mariology, emphasizing the Virgin Mary's significant role in human salvation.
