Muthaiya (May 24, 1913 – November 12, 1997) was an activist for Indian independence under Subhas Chandra Bose and a pioneer in Tamil publishing. Born into a zamindar family in Madagubatti, he was forced to leave school due to his father's death. He was proficient in Tamil, English, and Hindi. In 1936, he worked as an assistant editor of a magazine in Burma, later managing another in 1937. He served as an officer in Bose's Indian National Army and translated significant works, including books by prominent authors.
