Nikolai Petrovich Panov (August 9, 1924 – September 1, 2014) was a Soviet and Russian soil scientist, academician of VASKhNIL (1982), RAShN (1992), and RAS. He earned his Doctor of Agricultural Sciences in 1973 and became a professor in 1974. Panov was honored as a distinguished scientist of the Russian Federation in 1995 and received the USSR State Prize in Science and Technology in 1977. He was also an honorary member of the Dokuchaev Society of Soil Scientists and a member of the European Society for Soil Conservation.
