German Grigoryevich Getmancev (April 7, 1926 – April 30, 1980) was a Soviet scientist in the fields of radiophysics and radio astronomy. He was a key figure in the discovery known as the 'Getmancev Effect', which established new avenues of research concerning the ionosphere and its interaction with powerful radio waves. He earned a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree in 1965 and served as the director of the Scientific Research Radiophysical Institute from 1972 until his death in 1980.
