Vladimir Stepanovich Polin (1907—1975) was a Russian scientist and one of the initiators of electronic digital computing technology development in the USSR. He was a laureate of the Lenin Prize in 1957. Born in Tula, he served in cryptographic service during WWII and later led the Industrial Automation Design Bureau, where special computing machines were created. Under his leadership, semiconductor computers like 'Spring', 'Sigma', and 'Snow' were developed for the Ministry of Defense. He passed away in 1975 and was interred in Danilov Crematorium.
