Vladimir Alexandrovich Orechov (1921—1997) was a Colonel in the Soviet Army and a participant in World War II. He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1943 for his exemplary military achievements, including 235 combat sorties and personally downing 8 enemy aircraft. Throughout his career, he flew numerous aircraft types, amassing over 4,225 flying hours. Post-war, he continued to serve in the Air Force until his retirement in 1968 and was recognized as an Honored Military Pilot of the USSR in 1967. Orechov passed away on February 4, 1997, and was buried in Minsk.
