Alyaksandr Vasilievich Firsav (March 11, 1914 - October 23, 1952) was a participant in the Great Patriotic War and a matros of the Dnieper Military Flotilla. He was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on March 7, 1945. Born in the Podlesny settlement, he served in the Soviet Navy and distinguished himself in battles during 1944, notably for crossing the Pripyat River and repelling enemy attacks. After demobilization in 1945, he returned home and worked as the chairman of a collective farm.
