Otari Davitis dze Pirateshvili was a Georgian Soviet artist, art historian, and theorist, born on September 21, 1915, in Tbilisi and died on December 17, 1984, in the same city. He was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Arts of the Georgian SSR in 1972, became a Doctor of Arts in 1973, and was appointed a professor in 1975. He was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union starting in 1948.
