Янка Казека was a Belarusian Soviet literary scholar and critic born on August 31, 1915, in Kostrychy village, now part of the Kacherytski District of the Mogilev region. He passed away on March 3, 2000, in Minsk, Belarus. He was honored as a distinguished worker of culture of the Belarusian SSR in 1975 and was a laureate of the State Prize of the Belarusian SSR in 1976. In 1954, he became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR.
