Avram Ostatak was a Serbian poet born on November 6, 1934, in Gornja Leskovica near Valjevo. He spent his childhood in his hometown and completed primary education there, later attending secondary school in Valjevo. He studied history in Belgrade and worked briefly in Valjevo and Gornji Milanovac before becoming a librarian at the 'Stevan Sremac' National Library in Niš, where he also ran an antique department for about a decade. All of his poems were published under the pseudonym Avram Ostatak.
