Almaniyazov Aghybai Almasuly (1914-1992) was a prominent Kazakh biologist and professor known for his significant contributions to plant biology. He specialized in the study of wheat, corn, sugar beet, vegetable crops, alfalfa, and cotton. He discovered cytoplasmic male sterility in alfalfa, which was vital for hybrid breeding in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. He also developed new melon varieties named 'Kazakhstan-1' and 'Kazakhstan-2'. In 1966, he was acknowledged as a distinguished scientist in Kazakhstan, and he has a street named after him in Qyzylorda.
