Qu Wei (May 9, 1917 - May 20, 2002) was a Chinese composer born in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from Shanghai's New China Art School in 1935 and became a teacher at the Lu Xun Academy of Arts in Yan'an in 1940. After World War II, he focused on composing film music and studied in Moscow from 1955 to 1959. Upon returning to China, he served as Composer-in-Residence with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and held various leadership roles in the China Musicians Association starting in 1979. Notable works include symphonic poem 'Monument to the People's Heroes' and symphonic suite 'Harvest Scenes'.
