He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Mari ASSR from 1963 to 1967 and was the First Secretary of the Zvenigovsky and Gornomariy District Committees of the CPSU between 1959 and 1970. A World War II veteran, he participated in the 1945 Victory Parade in Moscow and held the rank of lieutenant colonel. He passed away on October 8, 2013, in Kozmodemyansk, Russia.
