Andrey Anatolievich Grib was a Soviet and Russian theoretical physicist, born on March 28, 1939, in Tomsk. He specialized in cosmology and elementary particle physics. Grib graduated from the physics faculty of Leningrad State University in 1961 and held the title of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He was a professor and head of the A. A. Friedmann Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at RGPU. Grib proposed the idea of a non-zero cosmological constant arising from vacuum changes due to spontaneous symmetry breaking in particle physics. He passed away on June 8, 2024, in Saint Petersburg.
