Pyotr Dmitrievich Sakharov (January 25, 1957 – April 13, 2023) was a prominent Soviet and Russian scholar specializing in Oriental studies, a liturgist, journalist, Christian publicist, and translator. He held a PhD in philological sciences and authored several scientific works on the mythology, religion, art, and literature of South Asia. His notable works include a monograph on mythological narratives in Sanskrit Puranas. Sakharov translated various Catholic liturgical texts into Russian and contributed to the Catholic Encyclopedia.
