Pyotr Kozlov was a colonel and participant in the Winter War and World War II, known for commanding the 17th Rifle Division during its second formation. He faced a court-martial and was sentenced to death for retreating without orders but escaped from custody and surrendered to the Nazis. He expressed willingness to cooperate with them. On July 21, 1943, he was removed from the Red Army lists and was declared missing. He was executed in the Flossenbürg concentration camp in Bavaria in 1943.
