Pyŏng-uk An (安秉煜) was a South Korean philosopher, essayist, and scholar of Eastern literature born on June 26, 1920, in Yonggang County, South Pyongan Province. He graduated from Waseda University in Japan and taught at various prestigious institutions, including Yonsei University and Seoul National University. An is known for his works in philosophy and essays, including 'The Philosophy of Modern Thought' and 'Dictionary of Life.' He was also involved in cultural projects and served as director of the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Society. He passed away on October 7, 2013.
