Prins Gunasekera was a notable Ceylonese politician, born on July 17, 1924, in Kataluwa. He represented the Habaraduwa electorate and was educated at several institutions, including Ananda College, Colombo. He earned a degree from the University of London and became an Attorney at Law in 1955. Gunasekera was also a journalist, serving as chief sub-editor at Lankadeepa. He was a founding member of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna party and had multiple terms in parliament, including as an independent and later as an SLFP candidate until his departure from the party in 1971.
