Pietro Cascella (1921–2008) was a prominent Italian sculptor known for his large monumental works, including the International Monument to the Victims of Fascism at Auschwitz II-Birkenau (1957–1967) and a mausoleum for Silvio Berlusconi in the 1980s. Born into a family of artists in Pescara, he was influenced by their artistic background. Cascella studied in Rome and participated in significant exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. He was awarded the Italian Medal of Merit for Culture and Art in 2006. He passed away in Pietrasanta in 2008.
