He competed in the 1920, 1924, and 1928 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in 1924 in Paris, while finishing seventh in 1920 and 1928. Despite his short stature of 1.67m, he ranked among the top high jumpers in the world from 1921 to 1925, achieving a personal best of 1.95m in 1925. Lewden passed away on April 30, 1989, in Montberthault.
