Pierre Chambon is a French physician, biochemist, and geneticist born on February 7, 1931, in Mulhouse. He is a distinguished professor emeritus at the University of Strasbourg's Faculty of Medicine and was a prominent figure in molecular genetics and cell biology. Chambon founded and led the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC) until 2002. His research on nuclear receptors has made significant contributions to the understanding of hormonal signaling. He has received numerous prestigious awards for his work, and he was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 1985.
