Philip William Turner (1925-2006) was a notable English writer primarily recognized for his children's literature, particularly his series set in the fictional town of Darnley Mills from 1964 to 1977. He also wrote under the pseudonym Stephen Chance and created the Reverend Septimus Treloar mystery series from 1971 to 1979. Turner was awarded the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 1965 for 'The Grange at High Force', cementing his reputation as an accomplished author of children's books in Britain.
