Philip John Gounis (born February 1, 1948) is an American poet, literary journalist, archivist, filmmaker, publisher, and reviewer. He gained attention in the 1970s through experimental films and poetry published in alternative media. He hosted several radio programs, including a blues show and a showcase of poetry and music. In the 1980s, he contributed to the Soulard Culture Squad and co-founded Steamshovel Press. Gounis's work includes poetry collections and collaborations with musicians, with significant contributions to the St. Louis literary scene.
