He began his journalism career in 1962 with the South Wales Echo and later worked for various notable publications including the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror. In 1994, he became the editor of the Daily Star, where he served for four years. Walker retired to Norfolk with his wife and passed away on 6 October 2011 at the age of 67, leaving behind a legacy in British journalism.
