He dominated the sport in the 1970s, becoming the first diver to win three world titles between 1973 and 1978 and earning Olympic gold in 1976. He excelled in platform and springboard diving, winning multiple medals at various championships. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and pursuing a legal education, he became a sports commentator. Boggs was married to fellow diver Micki King, and tragically passed away from lymphoma at the age of 40.
