Pheung Kya-shin was a prominent figure in Myanmar, serving as the chairman of Shan State Special Region No. 1 and leading the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) for two decades. Born in 1931 to a family associated with Kokang chieftains, he was influential in drug production, notably establishing a heroin factory. Pheung's leadership was marked by both conflict with the Myanmar military and attempts to control drug trade in Kokang, ultimately leading to his exile. He passed away on 16 February 2022 at the age of 91.
