He launched the fanzine Zenith in 1963, edited the Andromeda anthology series, and relaunched Prolapse in 2006. Weston co-founded the Birmingham Science Fiction Group in 1971, chaired Seacon '79, and organized Cytricon V in 2008. His significant impact on the sci-fi community earned him multiple accolades, including Nova Awards, enhancing the cultural landscape of British fandom.
