Peter Wells was a British-New Zealand high jumper born on May 23, 1929, in London. He competed for England in the 1950 British Empire Games, finishing fifth, and later for the British team in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, where he placed eleventh. Representing New Zealand in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, he achieved fourth place. Wells also competed for the United Kingdom in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, finishing sixteenth. He was the English champion in 1947 and set a personal best of 2.019 m on December 11, 1954.
