Peter Fanger was a German conductor, born on August 13, 1946, in Berlin and passed away on October 25, 2020. He served as principal conductor for various orchestras and founded several music institutions, including the Singakademie Suhl and the Neue Frankfurter Collegium Musicum. From 1987, he was the chief conductor of the Riesaer Symphoniker, which underwent two mergers to become the Neue Elbland Philharmonie. Fanger was appointed Generalmusikdirektor in 1993, a position he held until 2006. In 2011, he established the Kammerchor Camerata Cantorum in Dresden.
