Peter Dunsby is a professor of gravitation and cosmology at the University of Cape Town. He has significantly contributed to cosmology and gravitation, especially in higher-order theories of gravity. Dunsby was the founding Director of the South African National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme. He has received multiple awards for his research contributions and for fostering development in the academic community. Notably, Dunsby gained minor publicity due to a mistake in identifying Mars during an astrophotography session.
