Peter Althaus is a German urologist born on December 27, 1940. He worked at the Charité in Berlin, serving as a full professor of urology from 1988 to 1991. Between 1992 and 2008, he was the chief physician at the Evangelical Hospital Queen Elisabeth Herzberge in Berlin. He gained public recognition in 1990 as the responsible physician during the cancer surgery of Erich Honecker. Additionally, he became a media topic in the 1992/1993 legal dispute with the Humboldt University of Berlin regarding his dismissal due to alleged involvement with the Stasi.
