Per Ottar Seglen, born August 14, 1943, is an award-winning Norwegian cancer researcher known for his work on liver cells. He discovered a link between autophagy and cancer in 1985, with his research later influencing Nobel Prize winner Yoshinori Ohsumi. Most of his research was conducted at Radiumhospitalet from 1970 to 2013. He became a professor in cell biology at the University of Oslo in 1986 and has led a research group at Radiumhospitalet. As of 2017, he serves as the head of the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway.
