Per Olof Rune Nilsson, born June 30, 1958, in Trollhättan, Sweden, is an accomplished educator and academic leader. He grew up in Trollhättan and is trained as a physical education teacher and holds a Ph.D. in pedagogy. His career includes roles as a physical education teacher, a researcher at the Swedish Sports Research Council, a professor and head of the Teacher Education Program in Stockholm, and the rector of the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences. He served as director general of the Youth Authority from August 2004 to July 2013 and has been the rector of Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University since August 2013.
