Per Kolstad was a Norwegian physician and cancer researcher specializing in gynecological oncology. He graduated with a cand.med. in 1950 and served in the German Brigade before working at the Norwegian Field Hospital in Korea. In 1955, he received the King's Gold Medal for a thesis on legal abortion. He earned his dr.med. in 1964, focusing on the effects of radiation and oxygen content in cancer tissue. From 1967 to 1984, he was a chief physician at Radiumhospitalet and also served as a professor at the University of Oslo.
