She played a key role as Diver No. 2 in the first successful cave dive utilizing breathing equipment in Britain at Wookey Hole Caves on 18 August 1935. Her contributions to diving have been recognized posthumously, as she was inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame in 2023. Powell's legacy in the diving community continues to inspire future generations of divers.
