Pedro Laureano Mendonça da Silveira (1922-2003), also known as Pedro da Silveira, was a prominent Portuguese poet, translator, literary critic, and researcher. He contributed extensively to periodicals and magazines, served in the editorial board of 'Seara Nova' until 1974, and participated in 'Mundo Literário' between 1946 and 1948. His literary debut was with 'A Ilha e o Mundo' (1953). He authored two anthologies of Azorean poets, emphasizing their distinct literary identity. He also served on the management committee of the Biblioteca Nacional de Lisboa, retiring as director of Research and Cultural Activities.
