Pearl Calahasen is a notable Canadian politician born on December 5, 1952. She represented the Lesser Slave Lake district in the Alberta Legislative Assembly from 1989 to 2015 as a member of the Progressive Conservative party. She held various cabinet positions, including Minister without Portfolio for Children's Services and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs. Calahasen made history as the first Métis woman elected to public office in Alberta and became Alberta's longest-serving MLA after the 2012 election.
