Paula Embacher was an Austrian geodesist and the first female engineering consultant in surveying. After graduating from secondary school, she studied surveying at the Technical University of Vienna and became the first Austrian female geodesist in the early 1940s. In 1949, she earned her doctorate as the first female geodesist with a dissertation on Joseph Liesganig's degree measurement. Despite challenges, she was authorized as an engineering consultant in surveying and founded a civil engineering firm in Saalfelden, expanding it later to Vienna. She passed the firm to her son Gottfried around 1980.
