Paul Jean Léon Van Aerschodt, also known as Juan Pablo Simons in hiding, was a Belgian collaborator with Nazism born on December 18, 1922, in Houdeng-Aimeries. He was sentenced to death in absentia by the Charleroi military tribunal in April 1946. After fleeing to Spain and later Bolivia, he was thought to be dead until his arrest on October 28, 2008. However, his sentence was statute-barred as of 1976, leading to his release. He returned to Spain, where he passed away on October 6, 2011.
