Paul Sangnier was a French ethnologist and explorer born in Paris on July 22, 1917. He is best known for his study on the Wayana Indians of Guyana published in 1938. Sangnier was the younger brother of Jean Sangnier and the son of Marc Sangnier, the founder of Sillon. Tragically, he died in an accident at the Vernéjoux gorges on April 10, 1939.
