Paul James McLaughlin was a Canadian sailor, competing in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. He finished fifth and eighth in the single-person dinghy events respectively. Beyond sailing, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and participated in the Dunkirk evacuation. He was the captain and manager of the Canadian sailing teams at both Olympic Games and was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1977. His family includes competitive sailors, with sons who are Olympic medalists.
