Paul Ernest Freed was an American evangelist, pastor, missionary, and founder of Trans World Radio. Born in Detroit in 1918, he studied at Wheaton College and later obtained his master's and PhD in Mass Communication. Freed became involved with Youth for Christ and was instrumental in establishing the organization's work in Spain. Concerned about evangelism restrictions, he founded Trans World Radio in 1952 to reach 'closed' countries through radio broadcasting. He dedicated his life to the ministry until his passing in 1996.
