Paul Brenneker was a Dutch missionary, ethnologist, and visual artist born on May 7, 1912, in Venlo. He became a Dominican in 1932 and was ordained a priest in 1937, later serving in Curaçao and Bonaire. His interests included the history, culture, and traditions of the Dutch Caribbean islands. He compiled the 'Sambumbu' book series on ethnology and received several awards, including the Cola Debrotprijs in 1976. Posthumously, he was recognized as a pioneer in cultural heritage documentation in Curaçao.
