Paul Bonel, known as Granito or l'Espagnolet, was a Catalan rasetaire born in Ceret and died in 1975. He was the first winner of the Cocarda d'or in 1928 and also won the Palma d'or in 1933. Bonel was seriously injured by the cocardier 'Orphelin' during a race in Nîmes on August 31, 1930, and lived in Béziers. He was buried in Ceret, marking his life as a notable figure in the world of French bullfighting.
