Paul Emil Ailus, originally named Andersson, was a Finnish musician, entrepreneur, composer, and lyricist, born on February 22, 1911, in Oulu, and passed away on May 16, 1983, in Espoo. He is best known for writing the lyrics to 'Rantamökissä' and 'Aila-pienen,' performed by Olavi Virta and Metro-tyttöjä. Ailus moved to Helsinki at age two and changed his name to Ailus in the late 1930s. His main instrument was the accordion, but he also played the violin. He co-owned Soitintarvike Oy, which manufactured strings for various instruments.
